Thanks for WIND days!

Okay so you know how on the mainland school gets cancelled because of snow days. Well in my case Wednesday December 5, 2007 will go down in my book as the day that we got a day off because of the wind. Now, for some people it may have just been an "okay, no school" but for me it was like this is unbelievably awesome. The reason I was blown away (LOL) was because I was woken up at 3 o clock to my mom's voice telling me that two trees had fallen down on our street. I didn't really believe her so I just said "are you serious?" and then "cool". Then, rolled to the other side of my bed and went back to sleep. At around 6:30 am I got up and was kind of shocked, thinking that I was going to be late for school. I decided to look what all the fuss was outside and to my amazement there lay this giant tree branch right in the front of my driveway. Fortunately, it just missed my car and my neighbor's car. However, my neighbor one house over and across the street wasn't as blessed and I say blessed because honestly it is the time for those kind of miracles. His car had been eaten alive by mother nature's wrath. The car was totally smashed in by the tree, the tires flat, and the back window crushed into small pieces of glass. I wanted to take pictures because when I looked at these situations they reminded me of physics and well it was flip'n wicked too. Anyways I just remember MR. K talking about the circus people and the center of mass and all that jazz. So I thought this must have something to do with the tree's center of mass and the wind's ability to throw it off with strong forceful currents. My dad and I were even discussing how we might prevent the rest of the tree that is front of our house and now leaning toward our house, from falling on our house. We decided that in order to off set the weight leaning toward our house we needed to tie a massive string/rope on the opposite side and probably set it into the next street overs ground. I just thought that it was cool that I saw physics and that we got a day off.

Lesson: Mother Nature always wins and bask in the sexiness of having days off!
