I wasn't able to get a picture this weekend because I forgot my camera. Although, it would have been perfect because we were at a volleyball tournament which involves TONS of physics. Nevertheless, I have pictures and it's from one of the three trips I took this summer. The picture was taken on a river in Austen,TX. We were travleing in a mid-size river boat. Our mission was to see Mexican fruit bats.
The reason I chose the river picture is because it has a lot to do with physics and wave vibrations. The vibrations from the previous riverboat's engine offset some sets of ripples and waves. These vibrations traveled directly to our boat causing our boat to rock back and forth. Thus, making me feel sea sick because my balance or equal librium was thrown off by the vibrations that the waves were making.
The reason for using the second picture is because bats have a sonar in there head to detect how close or far from somthing they are. Our boat captain told us that bats don't see very well and this is why they use ecolocation to help them dectect a sense of depth and direction. They send out waves to an object then the vibrations from that object bounce back and our sent back to the bat. A very unique use of physics. :)
